GCHS Drama students qualify for International Thespian Festival

Twelve Garden City High School Drama students have qualified to attend the International Thespian Festival in June at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

This is the highest level of competition for drama students. The week-long festival includes competition in Thespys, nine Mainstage shows from around the country, and workshops from theatre industry professionals.

Students qualified for the festival in January at the Kansas Thespian Festival and a second chance qualifier through the Texas Thespians, a virtual festival.

The qualifying students and their events include:

  • Hayley Loya-Solo Musical with “No One Else” from Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812
  • Georgia Fahrmeier-Solo Musical with “Nothing Short of Wonderful” from Dogfight
  • Silas Lobmeyer-Solo Musical with “You Can’t Succeed on Broadway” from Monty Python’s Spamalot
  • Julia Facio-Solo Musical with “I Just Wanna Be a Star” from Nunsense
  • Logan Wyatt-Solo Musical with “The Whole Being Dead Thing” from Beetlejuice: The Musical
  • Marsae Hanneman-Solo Musical with “Right Hand Man” from Something Rotten
  • Phybee Madlangbayan-Solo Acting with monologues from Hardball and The Vagina Monologues
  • Katrina Almaguer-Solo Acting with monologues from Stop/Kiss and High School Musi-pocolypse
  • Santiago Rueda-Solo Acting with monologues from A Thousand Clowns and Karma
  • Logan Wyatt and Gavin Norton-Duet Acting with scene from The Creation of the World
  • Georgia Fahrmeier and Hayley Loya-Duet Musical with “In His Eyes” from Jekyll & Hyde
  • Santiago Rueda, Nic Vigil, Jasper Transfiguracion with a scene from The Aliens
