Four Garden City Community College employees recently received the annual NISOD Excellence Awards, which recognize individuals who exhibit remarkable commitment and service within their educational community.

Nominations for this award are submitted by peers, underscoring the significance of this recognition.

Honorees include Sydnee Claussen (Director of Advising), Julia Proctor (Director of Library Services), Jodie Tewell (Executive Assistant to the President), and Gabe Winger (Associate Dean of Technical Education and Director of John Deere Ag Tech).

The honorees were celebrated onstage during an all-employee meeting on May 15. Furthermore, they will be recognized at NISOD’s annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, scheduled for May 25-28.

Each recipient will receive a custom-cast pewter medallion adorned with a burnt-orange ribbon to symbolize their achievement.

“Being recognized with the NISOD Excellence Awards is a testament to the exceptional dedication and impact these individuals have on our campus community,” said Dr. Ryan Ruda, GCCC President. “Their commitment to student success, innovative approaches to education, and tireless efforts in advancing our institution make us incredibly proud. These awards not only honor their achievements but also serve as inspiration for all of us at GCCC to continue striving for excellence in everything we do.”
