Garden City Community College (GCCC) is hosting the “STEM Summer Camp: Science is Everywhere!” summer camp for high school students from June 4 to June 6.
This camp offers an immersive exploration of the science that surrounds daily lives, covering a wide array of subjects including Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, Plant Science, Animal Science, Forensic Science, and Fire Science.
Designed for all incoming high school students, the camp promises three days of discovery and
hands-on learning.
The camp schedule is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 4; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 5; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 6. Sessions will be held on the GCCC campus, including in the new GCCC STEM Success Center, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
Registration for the camp is now open at a fee of $25 per participant. Fees will be used to provide lunch for campers for all three days.
To secure a spot, interested individuals are encouraged to register promptly before the May 21 deadline.
Registration can be completed online at https://gcccks.formstack.com/forms/stem_summer_camp_2024.
The summer camp is made possible through GCCC’s Title III STEM Grant, a groundbreaking 5- year, $5 million grant aimed at advancing STEM education.
The grant has facilitated the introduction of three innovative programs at GCCC – Robotics, Cybersecurity, and Crop Production – and has played a pivotal role in the establishment of the STEM Success Center.
This 10,000-square-foot addition to the Warren Fouse Science and Math building provides dedicated spaces for classrooms, laboratories, offices, and collaborative workspaces, ensuring a conducive environment for STEM exploration and learning.
