Security State Bank partners on naming rights for GCCC construction trades facility

Garden City Community College recently announced a naming rights partnership with Security State Bank for the college’s upcoming Construction Trades facility, which will be known as the Security State Bank Construction Trades Center.

Security State Bank has been a strong and longstanding supporter of Garden City Community College. Earlier this fall, as part of GCCC’s capital campaign and tax credit program to support the proposed Construction Trades building, GCCC approached Security State Bank regarding naming rights for the project.

Through these discussions, Security State Bank agreed to fund the naming rights opportunity, demonstrating a shared commitment to workforce development and student success through a sizeable, mutually agreed-upon investment in career-focused education at Garden City Community College. This investment will be fulfilled through a multi-year commitment and completed prior to the facility’s opening.

The Security State Bank Construction Trades Center is currently in the architectural phase and will provide nearly 6,000 square feet of modern instructional and hands-on training space.

Located on the GCCC campus across Campus Drive, the facility will support industry-relevant education in carpentry, roofing, electrical technology, and additional construction trades, helping prepare students for high-demand careers in the region. Construction is expected to begin early this year.

“Security State Bank’s investment reflects a powerful partnership rooted in community growth and workforce preparation,” said Dr. Ryan Ruda, President of Garden City Community College. “This facility will create meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities for our students while strengthening the regional workforce for years to come. We are grateful for Security State Bank’s continued support.”

Josh Bailey, President and CEO of Security State Bank said the bank is proud to invest in projects across southwest Kansas.

“Partnering with GCCC on this project is a great opportunity to invest in a workforce that is so greatly needed in Western Kansas. We believe affordable housing is one of the biggest issues in our area, and we are optimistic this kind of development can make a difference,” Bailey said.

Through this partnership, Garden City Community College and Security State Bank (SSB) are laying the foundation for a modern training facility that will support student success and regional economic growth well into the future.
