Western Kansas Community Foundation has announced the retirement of executive director, Conny Bogaard, effective June 30.
Board Chair Paula Rowden announced the resignation, describing Bogaard’s tenure as a period of exceptional leadership and significant growth.
Under Bogaard’s direction since 2015, WKCF’s assets have grown from $25 million to $55 million, with grant programs expanding well into WKCF’s 15-county service area. Rowden praised Bogaard’s vision and integrity, noting that her leadership has positioned WKCF well as a community leader and respected partner.
“While this news is sad, I know we will be supportive of Conny’s decision and recognize with great appreciation all that she has done for WKCF over the past 11 years,” Rowden said. “There can be no doubt that her contributions have been invaluable in advancing our mission, and I know we will want all the best for her future endeavors.”
Bogaard has graciously provided the WKCF Board with enough time to conduct a thorough search process. The WKCF Board has formed a search committee and has begun the search process to find Bogaard’s successor.
Rowden and the WKCF board are confident in finding the right person to build upon Bogaard’s work and lead the foundation into the future.
“I have been very fortunate during my time here, because everyone has been very supportive,” Bogaard said. “I was new to Garden City when I started. It took me a while to learn about the community and my role, but I couldn’t be more grateful for the people I’ve had the privilege to work with, the board’s vision and guidance, along with exceptional staff support. Western Kansas has become home, and I trust my successor will find a similar welcome.”
Western Kansas Community Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization established in 1996 to enrich western Kansas life through philanthropy, leadership and collaboration. It is governed by an 18-member volunteer board of directors.
