Zandrew Timtiman, a 6th grader from Charles O. Stone Intermediate School, won the Finney County Spelling Bee on February 7 in Clifford Hope Auditorium on the Horace Good Middle School campus.
Zandrew spelled the word “braille” to win the competition and will now move on to the state Spelling Bee on March 21 at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.
Nhat Truong, a 7th grader from Kenneth Henderson Middle School, was the runner-up in the county bee. He will be the alternate for the state competition for Finney County.
Forty-five students from elementary through middle school grades from around Finney County competed in the spelling bee.
