Garden City Community College Intramurals will host the Buster Trot Walk/Run 5K on Saturday, November 14, as part of an initiative to promote wellness and physical activity. The event is free and open to the public, with no age restrictions. Both walkers and runners are welcome, and participants may walk or run at their own pace.
Embracing the Thanksgiving season with the slogan “Trot Your Way to the Finish Line,” the event encourages participants to get active and enjoy a fun, community-focused wellness activity.
Check-in begins at 3 p.m. in the Academic Building parking lot, with the 5K starting at 4 p.m. Participants are encouraged to park in the Beth Tedrow Student Center parking lot. The course is 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) and consists of three laps around the GCCC campus.
“We want to provide an opportunity for people to get active, focus on their wellness, and enjoy time together in our Buster community,” said Andy Lewton, Associate Professor of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at GCCC. “Whether you prefer to walk or run, we encourage everyone to come out and trot their way to the finish line.”
Registration is free, and all participants must register online by Thursday, Nov. 12, at gcccks.edu/bustertrot. Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the required waiver during online registration.
Event T-shirts featuring the Thanksgiving-themed design are available for $20 and must be ordered through the online registration form by Friday, Nov. 6. Payment is also due by Nov. 6.
