Artwork has been on display at the USD 457 Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming St, as part of the celebration of Youth Art Month during March.
The artwork, from students across the district, can be viewed during regular business hours through the end of March.
A reception is set for 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 in the Educational Support Center Board Room to highlight the event.
Art is an important tool as a means of expression for children of all ages. Art helps children explore their thoughts and emotions and translate them into something creative. Children become more self-aware, communicate better, and have an improved sense of self-esteem and well-being when they practice the arts.
Youth Art Month is celebrated in March every year to celebrate all things related to the arts, which encourages support and celebrates visual art education for grades K – 12. Youth Art Month has been celebrated across the country since 1961.
