‘Guest-a-thon’ resumes highlighting good things happening in Garden City

GREATER GARDEN CITY

They’re ba-ack!

Sean Collins and Shannon Dick are kicking off their wildly popular interview show with a 12-hour livestream program today “Sean & Shannon’s Garden City Guest-a-thon” at Hidden Trail Brewing.

Featuring a line up of 24 interviewees, Sean and Shannon will talk to guests in 30-minute blocks all day in a webcast on the Garen City Journal Facebook page.

The interview show, which is designed to highlight the good things going on in Garden City, is back for the first time since the Covid pandemic. Dick, Director of Analytics at Finney County Economic Development, said the goal is to do the shows more often such as every other month.

“The point is to get people informed about things that are happening in the community,” Dick said. “There’re some things that the only way you can learn about them is through an interview style segment that wouldn’t work in print or other social media. If this was 100 years ago, we’d have a town crier and have 12 hours of people standing on a box in the town square.”

Collins, owner of Collins Creative Marketing, credited Dick with coming up with the idea.

“That’s exactly what this is but sitting down in a brewery,” Collins quipped. “We’ve refined it.”

Collins said the interest in it has astounded him.

“When we started advertising for it, we got phone calls from some organizations that we didn’t have time to put in. It’s nice to have 24 guests, and we need more, but it wasn’t hard getting anybody on that list.”

When it was suggested it is a good venue for getting information out, Dick joked about the word “good” to describe it.

“That implies quality of product, and we don’t want to imply any quality of this product,” he said with a laugh.

If we promise nothing, we can only be pleasantly surprised, Collins added.

The webcast will be broken up into four segments for ease of viewing, and can be accessed after the fact on Garden City Journal’s facebook page.
