GCCC named one of ‘Most Promising’ community colleges to work

The National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) and Diverse: Issues In Higher Education (Diverse) has recognized Garden City Community College as one of the 2024 Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges.
The annual award recognizes community and technical colleges committed to diversity through best-in-class student and staff recruitment and retention practices, inclusive learning and working environments, and meaningful community service and engagement opportunities.

The national study employs a web-based survey approach to obtain information from NISOD member institutions. A multipart, weighted algorithm is used to classify the responding institutions.

Garden City Community College is the only Kansas institution ranked among the 2024 Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges list, and one of 18 community colleges nationally. GCCC also won the award in 2019, 2020, and 2023.
“I am immensely proud of Garden City Community College’s continued recognition as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges,” GCCC President Dr. Ryan Ruda said. “This honor underscores the dedication and effort of our exceptional faculty, staff, administration, and Board of Trustees.”

The award-winning institutions will be recognized during NISOD’s International Conference of Teaching and Leadership Excellence, May 25-28, in Austin, Texas.

Additionally, award recipients receive a specially-designed logo that can be used to promote the institution’s commitment to diversity during student and staff recruitment efforts, as well as during other times when they want to highlight their commitment to inclusiveness.

The awarded colleges are also featured in Diverse’s newsmagazine, the only bi-weekly national publication focusing on matters of access and opportunity for all in higher education.
