GCCC ‘Quizards’ win consecutive state championship

The Garden City Community College Quiz Bowl Team, known as The Quizards, won the 2024 Kansas Collegiate Quiz Bowl State Championship, marking the team’s second consecutive win.

Held on April 13-14 in Salina, the event attracted teams from across the state and showcased a high level of intellectual rigor and competitive spirit.

The GCCC Quizards dominated the round-robin phase with an undefeated 5-0 record, demonstrating their mastery across a broad range of subjects. In the Championship round, GCCC beat Cowley College.
Two GCCC students, Matthew Blood and Ethan Horton, achieved impressive individual rankings, with Blood securing 2nd place overall and Horton closely following in 3rd place.

The GCCC Quizards 2024 Championship Team included Matthew Blood, Ethan Horton, Josh Mitchell, Jessica Boutdara, and Sierra Mouser, and was coached by GCCC Professors Cody Cundiff and Dr. Haley York.

The Quizards are a Collegiate Quiz Bowl academic team that participates in fun, fast-paced, quiz-style tournaments.
