Jason Drohman chose to attend Garden City Community College (GCCC) to gain insight into post-secondary education.
“I wanted to understand what I was dipping my feet into with the college atmosphere. GCCC had everything I needed at a lower cost,” he said.
Reflecting on his time at GCCC, Jason emphasized the significance of learning effective study
habits.
“One of the most important things I learned at GCCC was how to study, or how to change my study habits for college.”
These habits propelled him to graduate with an Associate in Applied Science in Computer Science in 2002. Drohman continued his educational journey at Fort Hays State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Computer Information Systems, along with a Certificate in Organizational Leadership.
Now serving as the Senior Vice President of Operations and Technology at Western State Bank
in Garden City, Drohman manages various critical aspects of operations, including overseeing technology, physical and cyber security, and the back end of customer interactions.
“GCCC contributed to my success by showing me a diverse pathway of many opportunities in this world. It helped me develop skills to apply at the next level and in life,” he said.
Offering advice to current or prospective GCCC students, Drohman stressed the importance of staying focused on goals, utilizing resources, and building relationships.
“Stay organized, be adaptable. Make sure you are taking care of yourself and explore opportunities outside the classroom,” he said.
Garden City Community College is proud to have played a role in Drohman’s success. Make a difference for future Busters by starting your own Endowed Scholarship through the GCCC President’s Scholarship Initiative.
