GCCC Endowment celebrates scholarships

GCCC students Jayce Biernacki and Jaqueline Herrada-Aguilar visit with scholarship donors Beth Tedrow, GCCC Endowment Association Board Member, and Sister Janice Thome during the annual Scholarship Celebration.

Over 200 student scholarship recipients, donors, guests, board members, and GCCC staff came together October 28 for an evening of connection, recognition, and celebration at the Garden City Community College Endowment Association’s annual Scholarship Celebration.

The Scholarship Celebration provides an opportunity for students and donors to connect over a shared meal, fostering meaningful relationships and reinforcing the value of community support in education. Following the dinner, GCCC Presidential Ambassadors presented prize baskets provided by the Endowment Association Board to two scholarship recipients.

“The Scholarship Celebration is one of the most meaningful events we host each year,” said Scott Kedrowski, Dean of Advancement at GCCC. “It’s a night that reminds us why scholarships matter — they not only ease financial burdens but also create lasting connections between those who give and those who benefit.”

Karlie Purdy, Director of Annual Giving, Events, and Alumni Relations, added, “We’re so grateful to our donors for their continued generosity. This event allows our students to express their appreciation directly and gives our donors the chance to see the real impact their support makes in the lives of our Busters.”

Through the continued support of donors and the Endowment Association, GCCC awarded over 600 scholarships this year, empowering students to pursue their goals and strengthen the future of southwest Kansas.
