Summer Books-on-the-Bus program underway

The USD 457 Books-on-the-Bus program, better known as B.O.B., will visit various sites in Garden City during the week starting June 3.  The Bookmobile’s last scheduled visit will be held on July 26. The Bookmobile will not visit the community July 1 – 5.

USD 457 retirees, longtime employees recognized

Garden City Public Schools honored long-time employees on May 23 at a Board of Education Staff Recognition Dinner.  

Each year Garden City Public Schools proudly salutes all of its retiring employees and those who continue to serve the district after 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service.

Summer hours for Garden City Educational Support Center

The Garden City Public Schools Central Student Enrollment Office at the Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming Street, will change its days of operation during the summer. The office will be closed on Friday afternoons during the summer starting on June 7 through July 19.

Last day of school is Thursday for GC Schools

The last day of school for the 2023-24 school year for Garden City Public Schools will be Thursday, May 23. This will be a full day of school for students with normal starting and ending times. School will be out for the summer break at the end of the school day.

Garden City schools receive statewide awards

Several Garden City Public Schools have received 2023 Challenge Awards from the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force, including Buffalo Jones Elementary School, Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center, Edith Scheuerman Elementary School, Georgia Matthews Elementary School, and Victor Ornelas Elementary School.
