On April 22 Garden City Community College recognized the late Duane Koster and the Koster family with a naming rights dedication ceremony honoring their longstanding support and commitment to the college.
The GCCC Board of Trustees previously approved naming two areas in honor of the Koster family: the GCCC John Deere expansion classroom in the Jarmer Technical Annex and the GCCC Experimental Crop Plots. Commemorative lettering and plaques have been installed to signify the naming.
“The level of support and commitment demonstrated by Duane Koster and the Koster family reflects a deep dedication to Garden City Community College and its students,” said Dr. Ryan Ruda, President of GCCC. “Their investment continues to make a meaningful impact on our campus and the future of our programs.”
This honor reflects their significant contributions to the college, including major financial support through American Implement, which helped match grant funds for the John Deere expansion project. The family has also provided ongoing support for scholarships and tax credit programs that directly benefit GCCC students.
Duane Koster and the Koster family have established a lasting legacy of giving to Garden City Community College. Their generosity has played a vital role in enhancing educational opportunities and strengthening the college’s agricultural programs.
The naming recognition serves as a lasting tribute to the Koster family’s partnership with GCCC and their continued belief in the power of education.
